About management

RMITV hires seven part-time volunteer department managers to look after the organisation and membership.  A General Manager, Office Manager, Programming Manager, Training Manager and Technical Manager. RMITV also hires up to two volunteer producers to manage the flagship production.  All of these roles are paid an honorarium, in recognition of there hard work. A large number of others look after the management of the organisation in non honorarium volunteer roles.

Additionally, Student Community Television Inc. is a paid full member of the Melbourne Community Television Consortium (MCTC), which provides them with free airtime on C31 Melbourne and Geelong and representation on MCTC committees.

RMITV is one of the oldest community television organisations in Australia, having been involved in lobbying the government for community access to the television spectrum. It transmitted its first test broadcast in 1987. RMITV was also responsible for broadcasting ETV(Enterprise TV), a closed-circuit television system that used to screen throughout RMIT’s City Campus.
