RMITV is an independent media production group committed to producing quality innovative and entertaining programs, whilst providing practical media experience for RMIT students and the wider community. RMITV is the oldest community television organization in Australia and we are part of the consortium that runs Melbourne’s free-to-air community station at Channel 31. Out of the MCTC’s 40 member groups, RMITV is the largest producer of community television content. RMITV is also a part of the RMIT Student Union.
We endeavour to help young, often first-time producers realise their goals and dreams in the complicated yet fulfilling industry of television production. We have a long history of successful producers and practitioners moving into professional employment within the Australian television industry. Our alumni include; Rove McManus (Roving Enterprises), Hamish and Andy (Fox FM), Shona Devlin (JTV - Triple J), and Andrew Tacon (Foxtel). Not to mention the five RMITV members gaining employment at the ABC in the past two years alone, in roles such as; news directing, director's assistant and program assistant. Several of our members also work for companies including; Network 10, Toombak, Indigenous Production, Videoworks, and Staging Connections.
